  • you are a complete beginner in Finnish

What this program is

This is a structured preparation program for the Finnish YKI exam.
It is designed to help you understand the exam requirements and prepare in a focused and efficient way.

 

The program is not a traditional language course.
Instead, it concentrates on:

  • the structure and format of the YKI exam

  • what examiners expect in each part of the test

  • common mistakes that lead to losing points

  • how answers are evaluated

  • how to approach the exam strategically and calmly

 

The main focus is on revision and consolidation of existing knowledge, supported by a clear study structure and expert guidance.

The material is designed to support intensive revision and repetition, especially of grammar and exam-relevant language structures.

Live sessions

Live sessions take place between the official registration deadline and the exam date.

 

They are designed to support your independent study and are used to:

  • provide orientation and structure after registration

  • answer questions that arise while working with the material

  • clarify exam-relevant grammar and language issues

  • discuss typical mistakes and how to avoid them

  • practise speaking and exam-related tasks in a live setting

 

Live sessions are recorded and made available to participants.

 

However, active participation is strongly recommended, as live attendance allows you to:

  • ask questions directly

  • practise speaking in real time

  • receive immediate clarification and feedback

 

If you are unable to attend a live session, you can submit your questions by email.
These questions will be addressed during the live sessions.

Self-study workload

This program is based primarily on independent self-study.

 

For optimal preparation, participants should expect to invest approximately:

  • 4–5 hours per day during the preparation phase

 

The self-study material follows a 20-day learning structure.
Completing all material is not mandatory, but it significantly supports exam performance, especially through revision and repetition of key grammar and language structures.

 

Participants can decide themselves how intensively they work with the material, depending on their individual needs and available time.

Program format & exam cycles

This program is offered as an online group program and is linked to official YKI exam cycles.

 

Participation is valid for one exam cycle, starting from the official registration period and ending shortly after the exam date.

 

The preparation process includes:

  • independent self-study using the provided material

  • live group sessions scheduled between the registration deadline and the exam

  • final clarification of open questions shortly before the test

 

Access to the material and live sessions ends after the respective exam cycle.

Important notes

  • This program does not guarantee passing the YKI exam

  • Active participation and independent study are required

  • The program is designed for participants who already have basic Finnish skills

  • The group is intentionally kept small to allow questions and interaction

  • Access to the program is limited to one YKI exam cycle
